That's right Colbie had her first day of school at age 14 months=) and as you can see there were a few tears, but considering it's the first time leaving her with anyone other than my mom, she did pretty good! Colbie is super lucky to be attending the Experimental Education Unit (EEU) in Seattle, thanks to my fabulous friend Bethany who has worked there for a long time! Colbie has a class with both typical children and children with disabilities and it's free =). She goes to class Monday and Wednesday from 9-10:30. Charlotte (Bethany's daughter) will be joining Colbie's class in September, so fun!
I stayed in class with Colbie for the first 35 minutes or so, then waived bye-bye and watched the remainder of her day from the viewing booth. She shed only a few tears when I left, but the teachers distracted her and she enjoyed some snack, played with the babies, and loved the water table. When it was time to close the water table for circle, Colbie had a rough time.....She cried for the remainder of class, which was luckily only about 10 minutes. Not getting to play with the water and looking around for a missing Mommy to console her was too much. She started a bit or a train reaction and most of the kids in class cried through circle time.....sorry teacher Carolyn.
It was so fun to see her exploring the classroom and interacting with the other kiddos! Enjoy the pics....sorry there are way too many!
