Quarantine Week 6

This week was a bit of an emotional roller coaster (mostly for Colbie and a little for me).  I think Colbie has been focused on and looking forward to her birthday for the past month and now that it's over she's feeling pretty sad/lonely and missing her social/busy life.

A few things we did enjoy this week was a trip to North Creek Park Trail, a beach trip during low tide, a sibling sleepover, and the kids learning and playing lots of chess.  We have also been letting the kids play with the neighbors which has been life changing for kids and parents!  They usually stick to riding bikes (to keep their distance) but have done a little baseball and flag football while wearing surgical gloves.

We have also enjoyed naming the birds that frequent our bird feeder in the backyard..... Can you say bored?!

Quarantine Week 5

I only took two (non-birthday photos) this week but they sum up the week perfectly!  Now that the teachers know they're finishing the school year online they really up'd their game.  It was a challenging week for kids and parents alike trying to figure out all the new links, websites, log-ins, assignments, etc.

Colbie's Quaratine Birthday Party

Colbie was pretty disappointed when we told her that we had to cancel her ice skating birthday party.  Luckily by the time her big day actually came around she had totally accepted the change.  She had an awesome, positive attitude all day despite not getting to see a single family member or friend on her birthday.  She didn't complain once and had a great day!!  She really is a shining star!

She was up very early and so excited for the day!  We had donuts for breakfast, did a small amount of school work, played Pin the Horn on the Unicorn, opened lots of gifts, had McDonalds for dinner (her choice), an ice cream sundae bar for dessert and ended the day with a llama piƱata.  She also received lots of Facetime Calls.

Colbie turns 9!

Colbie is a smart, spunky, confident, strong, independent girl!  We are so proud of the little lady she's becoming.  She does well in school and misses it so much (so do I)!  She loves her friends, sports, Girl Scouts, sleeping in, reading, squishies, stuffed animals and TV .  She has become quite the fashionista the past few weeks, but often has a sporty outfit underneath to ride bikes and play outside.

Her Favorites:
Color: yellow
Food: steak, bread and ice cream
Animal: dog (she really wants one) and snow leopards
Friends: Makenna, Scarlett and Charlotte

The words she uses to describe herself: creative, loving, kind, curious and sporty.  I couldn't agree more!  I would also add optimistic.  She makes the most of each situation and always tries to find the bright side.  Love her so much!

Happy 9th Birthday Beautiful Girl!
